Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation
"Mother Jones" Award Presented to
Karen Roberts
The 2010 "Mother Jones Award" was presented to NTA Member Karen Roberts at the Hudson Valley Area Labor Feberation's "Labor Heroes Celebration" held at The Meadowbrook in New Windsor on March 5th.
The "Mother Jones Award" recognizes the most outstanding labor activitists in the Hudson Valley Region. NTA President Patricia Van Duser, who attended the celebration on behalf of the NTA (pictured above with Roberts), said: "Karen is a woman of singular distinction and through her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts, has dedicated herself to the advancement of workers' rights and union protection. Her contributions and accomplishments make her a true inspiration."
Karen is an Executive Board member of the HVALF and serves as a Vice President. She has also served on numerous boards, including Secretary for the Newburgh Teachers' Association, and Vice President for the Hudson Catskill Central Labor Council. Karen began her teaching career in 1999 and currently teaches fourth grade at New Windsor School.
