"Run with the PAC"
Campaign Begins!
POLITICS: IT MEANS YOUR LIFE, YOUR JOB,
YOUR UNION.
When you are born, your birth is registered by someone appointed by an elected official. And when you die, someone else appointed by an elected official records your death. In between the cradle and the grave, elected official and their appointees determine:
The quality of the air you breathe. The nutritional value of the food you eat. The cost of your health care. The education you receive. The effectiveness and safety of the medicine you use. The kinds of police and fire protection you have. Rhe type of parks and recreational facilities you use. The safety of the streets and the quality of the highways.
The qualification and certification you need to teach. The size of your class. Whether you can have a union represent you. The amount of your pension. Whether you have tenure. The textbooks you may use.
The interest rates you pay. The city, state, federal property and sales tax you pay. Your unemployment benefits. Your social security benefits. The cost of fuel for your house. The cost of gas, electricity, water and phone service.
IT MEANS YOUR FUTURE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A FOUR LETTER WORD TO BE HEARD: VOTE!! START BUILDING YOUR FUTURE TODAY. GIVE TO NTA VOTE/COPE.

Mandatory Reporting of Suspected
Child Abuse Law Changes:
You Suspect...You Call
On October 1, 2007, the New York State legislature enacted Assembly
Bill A-3053, originally
introduced on January 22, 2007, which changed the mandatory reporting requirements defined in
§413 and §015 of Social Services law. The law now more clearly identifies "school officials" as
including, but not limited to, teachers, guidance counselors, school psychologists, school social
workers, school nurses, school administrators, and any other school personnel required to hold a
teaching or administrative license or certificate.
